Senior BI Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior BI Engineer, you will bridge business stakeholders, backend developers, and analysts, driving best practices in BI governance, performance optimization, and innovation across SSAS, ETL workflows, BigQuery, and GCP. You’ll ensure our BI platforms deliver reliable, cost-efficient, and actionable insights.

What You’ll Do

General BI Responsibilities

• Onboard new projects and validate relevant data sources

• Define key data for the data warehouse and establish relationships

• Assign tasks to backend developers and analysts

• Ensure data quality, compliance, consistency, and security

• Integrate ML models and AI solutions into BI platforms

• Act as first point of contact for regulatory datasets

• Present actionable insights to stakeholders

• Handle urgent data/reporting requests quickly and accurately

• Provide occasional after-hours support

ETL Workflows & Cube Optimization

• Design, monitor, and optimize ETL workflows for efficiency

• Work with Apache NiFi, Google Dataform, Google Dataflow, Google Application Integration

• Design, maintain, and optimize SSAS analytical cubes

• Quickly react to abnormal SQL queries or excessive GCP resource usage

Tooling & Infrastructure

• Manage and optimize GCP Cloud Run pipelines and BigQuery datasets

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement new BI tools

Reporting & Visualization

• Develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI and Looker Studio

• Translate business requirements into actionable KPIs

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Senior BI Engineer, BI Developer, or Consultant

• Expertise in SSAS (tabular & multidimensional cubes)

• Solid ETL workflow experience — preference for Apache NiFi, Google Dataform, Google Dataflow

• Hands-on with BigQuery, GCP Cloud Run, SQL, data warehousing

• Proficiency with Power BI and Looker Studio

• Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and quality frameworks

• Experience supporting production BI environments (including after-hours)

• Bonus: Machine learning / AI integration experience
