We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join our rapidly growing global workforce in Sofia, Bulgaria. This role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with leadership in network strategy, architecture, and decision-making. You will drive the evolution and performance of our global trading infrastructure, providing technical guidance, influencing key architectural decisions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. While this is not a people-management role, you will serve as a technical leader and trusted authority within the networking domain.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a senior member of the Global Infrastructure team, providing technical leadership and architectural input on network-related initiatives
Design and evolve global network architecture to support a highly available, low-latency trading environment
Drive implementation of network security best practices and contribute to infrastructure hardening efforts
Ensure network infrastructure aligns with the company’s security policies and compliance requirements
Define and maintain infrastructure standards across the organization
Collaborate with vendors to install, configure, and maintain L2/L3 switches, routers, and firewalls
Manage and optimize dedicated connections between public and private cloud environments
Provide deep expertise in performance tuning of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Lead performance analysis and latency optimization for mission-critical, customer-facing applications
Participate in strategic planning for network growth, resilience, and scalability
Contribute to disaster recovery, high availability, and security strategies in collaboration with other teams
Proactively monitor network health and resolve performance bottlenecks or connectivity issues
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members, promoting best practices and innovation
Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements
Flexibility to respond to critical incidents outside normal working hours
Requirements:
5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering roles, with increasing levels of responsibility
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
CCIE certification is mandatory
Expert-level understanding and tuning of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Experience with AWS solutions, and Enterprise Domain management e.g CloudFlare
Deep experience with VPN technologies across MPLS, P2P, and other media
Strong command of Cisco platforms (NX-OS, IOS, ASA, FirePower)
Proficiency in redundancy and availability technologies (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP)
Advanced understanding of the TCP/IP stack and experience with tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump
Experience with storage networking (FCoE, iSCSI, Fibre) is a plus
Proven ability to support and enhance latency-sensitive global networks
Self-starter mindset with a collaborative attitude and a passion for solving complex problems
Experience with SDN solutions such as VMware NSX is an advantage
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
