We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join a team supporting mission-critical systems in a cloud-focused environment. The role is primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server in Azure, with additional exposure to PostgreSQL and Snowflake. You will play a key role in ensuring database performance, security, and cost efficiency, while contributing to strategic cloud and migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, maintain, and optimise databases across cloud and on-prem environments
Monitor and improve performance through tuning, indexing, and configuration
Design and manage backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions
Optimise storage usage and reduce infrastructure and licensing costs
Support cloud optimisation initiatives (IaaS to PaaS transitions)
Implement security, access control, and compliance standards (SOC, ISO, GDPR)
Automate DBA tasks using PowerShell and SQL Server tools
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams and maintain documentation
Requirements:
4+ years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in production environments
Strong expertise in performance tuning, monitoring, and storage optimisation
Experience with Azure (IaaS & PaaS)
2+ years working with PostgreSQL and/or Snowflake
PowerShell scripting experience
Very good English and ability to work independently
Nice to have:
Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Zabbix)
Relevant certifications
Experience with Octopus Deploy
