Associate Platform Engineering – FinOps

We are looking for an Associate Platform Engineering – FinOps specialist to join a global technology & engineering function within a major financial organisation. The role focuses on optimising cloud and on-prem costs, enabling engineering teams, and driving FinOps excellence across a Microsoft-centric environment.

You will work closely with engineers, product owners, and vendor partners to design cost-efficient architectures, automate financial governance, and deliver high-value cloud optimisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and embed FinOps practices within Azure engineering workflows
• Optimise Azure spend across subscriptions, landing zones, and management groups
• Integrate FinOps tooling into Azure DevOps & GitHub pipelines (IaC-driven)
• Implement automated tagging and cost allocation
• Build forecasting, budgeting, and anomaly detection models
• Develop cost-visibility dashboards in Power BI
• Apply Reservations, Savings Plans & Spot VM strategies
• Implement Azure Advisor & Well-Architected cost recommendations
• Establish policies and governance through Azure Policy & RBAC
• Manage EA/MCA billing, MACC commitments & vendor engagements
• Support hybrid/on-prem cost models (chargeback / showback)

Technical Requirements

• Azure Cost Management + Billing
• Terraform / Bicep for IaC
• Azure DevOps & GitHub pipelines integration
• Power BI (dashboards, cost reporting)
• Azure Policy, RBAC, Management Groups
• Reservations, Savings Plans, Spot VMs
• Azure Advisor & Well-Architected Framework (Cost Optimisation)
• MACC, EA/MCA billing management
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience implementing FinOps in Azure
• Work with MSPs and FinOps tooling providers
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (preferred)
• Strong communication & cross-team collaboration skills
• Understanding of cloud financial modelling & forecasting
• Experience enforcing governance, guardrails & access controls
