Software Engineering Team Lead

Where you Fit In:

As a Team Lead, you will lead a team of talented Java developers responsible for building and maintaining our core gaming platform. You’ll play a critical role in balancing technical delivery with team leadership—mentoring engineers, supporting technical decision-making, and ensuring consistent, high-quality output aligned with Sportingtech’s business goals.

​The impact you will have:

Run regular 1:1s, support performance reviews, and guide career development

Oversee the design, development, and delivery of backend services on our gaming platform

Collaborate with product managers and architects to align delivery with business priorities

Ensure adherence to engineering best practices around code quality, scalability, and security

Review and approve code, ensuring high standards across the team

Identify and remove roadblocks affecting delivery timelines

Troubleshoot technical issues in staging and production environments

Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend improvements to tools and processes

What we’re looking for:

Proven experience in a Team Lead or Senior Java Developer role

Strong background in Java (Java 11+), Spring Boot, and related backend technologies

Experience in designing and delivering scalable backend systems in production

Deep understanding of software development best practices and design patterns

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage cross-functional collaboration

Experience with Agile methodologies and leading sprint ceremonies

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus

Prior experience in iGaming or other high-volume transactional platforms is desirable

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment
