Senior Data Engineer with GCP

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with GCP (labour or B2B contract) to join a long-term project with one of our key clients in the digital insurance sector, based in New York. You will play a vital role in designing and developing scalable data integration and analytics solutions that transform complex, multi-source datasets into a reliable, single source of truth.

The project’s goal is to consolidate insurance and call center data from multiple warehouses (with data in the terabyte range), address legacy technical debt, and enable advanced data analysis and reporting — including sentiment analysis.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work with a modern data stack and help evolve the platform through clean, maintainable code and smart architectural decisions. You’ll also contribute to data ingestion pipelines, infrastructure as code, and performance optimization, all within a collaborative, DevOps-friendly environment.

What you’ll do:

● Design and implement robust data pipelines and workflows using tools like Airflow and Airbyte.

● Optimize and refactor legacy systems for performance and maintainability.

● Integrate new data sources and enhance reporting capabilities.

● Support sentiment analysis solutions based on integrated datasets.

● Contribute to infrastructure management and observability setup.

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with key stakeholders.

● Maintain best practices for version control, testing, and continuous delivery.

Tech Stack:

● Data & Pipelines: Google BigQuery, Airbyte, Apache Airflow, dbt

● Programming & Scripting: Python, SQL

● Infrastructure & Monitoring: Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog

● Version Control & DevOps: GitHub

● Other: Integration with various APIs

Requirements:

● 5+ years of experience as a Software/Data Engineer or similar.

● Proven expertise in building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT workflows.

● Strong Python and SQL skills.

● 3+ years experience working with cloud platforms (GCP).

● Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and containerized environments.

● Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

● Experience in client-facing roles or working closely with stakeholders is a plus.

Nice to have:

● Experience with sentiment analysis, natural language processing, or similar analytics.

● Prior involvement in the insurance or call center domains.

● Experience with dbt and modern data warehousing best practices.
