    Tech Stack / Requirements

We make smart devices and push the boundaries of the IoT sector every single day. Shelly is a strong company with a startup mindset — no bureaucracy, just bold ideas, creative problem-solving, and a team that genuinely loves what they do.

We turn every spark of an idea into a real product — from first concept to full production — and bring smart automation to over 3 million households around the world. From heating, lighting, appliances, curtains, and more — if it runs on electricity, chances are we can automate it. We’ve built over 100 smart devices (and counting!), and everything happens right here at our headquarters in Sofia.

    Back-End Developer (Mid-Senior Level)

    Your Role

As a Back-End Developer at Shelly Group, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the backbone of our cloud-based home automation platform. You’ll design and build scalable, real-time services that power smart devices across more than 60 countries, working at the intersection of innovation, performance, and reliability.

What makes you a great fit:

    • You have proven experience in back-end development at a mid to senior level, with a strong grasp of modern web service architecture.
    • You possess expert-level knowledge of Node.js and are comfortable working with back-end frameworks to build robust systems.
    • You are proficient in TypeScript and thrive in a Linux-based development environment.
    • You have hands-on experience with Redis for data storage, caching, and fast access patterns.
    • You are confident in designing and building RESTful APIs and are familiar with microservices architecture.
    • You have worked with both SQL and NoSQL databases and know when to use which.
    • You bring sharp debugging skills and a natural drive to solve complex technical challenges.
    • You follow software engineering best practices and have experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools.
    • You collaborate well with front-end developers and enjoy working across cross-functional teams.
    • You’ve worked with (or are eager to learn) cloud platforms — experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a big plus.
    • You might also have a bonus edge if you’re familiar with front-end frameworks like Vue.js, Vite, or Svelte — even if it’s just on the side.

    Job responsibilities:

    • Develop, optimize, and maintain the core of our cloud-based home automation platform — the tech that helps users control smart devices worldwide.
    • Build and scale high-performance, real-time services that support device management and automation at a global level.
    • Design and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented RESTful APIs to support both internal teams and external integrations.
    • Collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless API integration and smooth data flow across the platform.
    • Monitor and improve system performance, security, and reliability — you’ll play a key role in keeping our platform fast, stable, and secure.
    • Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring our services are always running at their best.
    • Contribute to shaping a scalable back-end architecture by researching and applying modern best practices.
    • Work within our CI/CD pipelines to streamline and automate deployment processes.
    • Actively participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions that drive innovation and team growth.

What is in it for you:
