Senior User Researcher (fixed term project)

We are seeking a seasoned Senior User Researcher to join our partners Design System team. In this role, you will drive deep insights into user needs, workflows, and behaviors that influence the foundation of a design system. Partnering across design, engineering, and product teams, you will ensure the Design System delivers seamless, accessible, and scalable experiences to a global user base. Your research will impact products used by millions of users worldwide. Mandatory onboarding onsite at the client’s location in Sofia, which is estimated to last for 3 weeks.

Key Responsibilities for the Short-Term Mission Planned Until the End of 2025:

• Plan, design, and execute a wide range of user research activities (e.g., generative, evaluative, and longitudinal studies) across projects within the context of a Design System.
• Partner with product owners, designers, engineers, and content strategists to ensure research insights shape project priorities and design decisions.
• Conduct heuristic evaluations, usability testing, and co-creation workshops.
• Synthesize complex findings into clear, actionable insights and present them effectively to cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate on the development of user personas, journeys, and behavioral models relevant to the design system ecosystem.
• Help establish and evolve research operations processes, tools, and best practices within the design field.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams across continents without skipping a beat.

Required Qualifications:

• 6+ years experience conducting user research in a large tech, enterprise, or SaaS environment.
• Strong understanding of human-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and design systems.
• Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Exceptional communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Design, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience conducting research for design systems or platform-level products.
• Familiarity with large-scale enterprise design systems or products.
• Knowledge of front-end development processes and design-to-code workflows.
• Proficiency with research tools such as UserZoom, UserTesting, or similar.
