Senior Java Developer

Our international IT Hub in Sofia, Bulgaria is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Java Developer (Backend) to join our international team in Sofia. You will work in an international environment and culture with a constant exchange of onsite-/offsite knowledge and delivering services over the fastest growing online healthcare platform in Germany.

Responsibilities:

• Java Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for our e-commerce platform using Java.

• Build and optimize RESTful APIs to support frontend applications and external integrations.

• Utilize design patterns and best practices to create maintainable, robust, and secure codebases.

• Collaborate with the team in an Agile environment to define, design, and ship new features.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Gradle, Jenkins, and Git.

• Optimize database performance and queries on PostgreSQL for a seamless user experience.

• Leverage Docker to containerize applications for consistent deployment across environments.

• Use JIRA to manage tasks and track development progress.

• Ensure compliance with Open API standards and integrate external APIs as needed.

• Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of real-world experience developing modern java applications

• Strong proficiency in Java, REST APIs, and related backend technologies.

• Expertise in PHP Symfony framework for maintaining or building additional e-commerce functionality is considered an advantage.

• Hands-on experience with Gradle, Jenkins, and Git for build and deployment.

• Proficiency in working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Solid understanding of design patterns and their application in scalable systems.

• Proficiency with Docker for containerization.

• Familiarity with Open API standards and documentation practices.

• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.

• Strong experience with development tools like IntelliJ IDEA.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

• Strong systematic approach, conceptual and analytical thinking, creativity as well as team and communication skills

• Independent, results-oriented way of working, initiative, customer-oriented appearance

• Very good written and spoken English
