Java Team Lead

Matrix Eastern Europe, the offshore division of Matrix IT, one of the leading global R&D services companies with more than 11,000 professionals, is looking for a Java Team Lead to join one of our teams!

Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Java Team Lead to lead a team of developers in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge, and hands-on experience with backend development and modern software architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend developers through the full software development lifecycle
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance Java-based backend systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA, and DevOps
• Ensure code quality, best practices, and continuous improvement in development processes
• Participate in architectural decisions and code reviews
• Drive Agile development processes and promote a culture of innovation

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in leading development teams in complex environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Java (Server-side) – 4+ years
• Proven experience working with Microservices architecture – 3+ years
• Familiarity with various technologies and ability to adapt quickly to new ones
• Experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Broad system understanding and deep knowledge of the application lifecycle
• Experience working with NoSQL databases – MongoDB is a plus
• 2+ years of experience working with cloud environments – AWS is a strong advantage
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field – advantage
