Data Governance & Master Data Management Capability Lead

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Global Data Governance & Master Data Management (MDM) Capability Lead to define and implement a comprehensive Data Governance and MDM framework for our client. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and executing data governance and master data management strategies, including policies for Access Management, Data Quality, Data Classification, and MDM best practices. As a key leader, the Data Governance & MDM Capability Lead will work collaboratively with other Capability Leads (Data Engineering, Front-End, Data Science, and Integration) to establish governance and master data management practices that ensure data security, compliance, consistency, and high-quality insights across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Governance & MDM Framework: Design and implement a comprehensive Data Governance and MDM Framework, including policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Policy Development: Develop and enforce policies around Access Management, Data Quality, Data Classification, and Master Data Management, ensuring compliance with global standards and regulations.

• Tool Adoption and Optimization: Lead the implementation and optimization of tools like Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, and MDM solutions to streamline governance and master data management processes such as data cataloging, lineage tracking, classification, and data harmonization.

• Collaboration: Partner with other Capability Leads to align governance and MDM processes with broader data architecture and organizational goals.

• Access Management Policies: Define and implement robust access control mechanisms to ensure secure and compliant data usage across the organization.

• Data Quality Standards: Establish standards and processes for monitoring, measuring, and improving data quality across all data domains.

• Data Classification Policies: Define frameworks to classify data based on sensitivity, usage, and compliance requirements.

• Master Data Management: Develop and implement MDM strategies to ensure a single, trusted view of core business data across systems and business units.

• Azure and Databricks Integration: Ensure that governance and MDM practices are seamlessly embedded in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and other enterprise platforms.

• Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of governance and MDM professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

• Governance & MDM Metrics and Reporting: Define KPIs to measure governance and MDM effectiveness and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Overall 10+ years of experience in Data Governance & Master Data Management field.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing Data Governance and MDM Frameworks.

• Strong expertise in creating and enforcing policies for Access Management, Data Quality, Data Classification, and Master Data Management.

• Hands-on experience with governance tools like Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, and MDM solutions.

• 3+ years of experience with Databricks, focusing on governance, integration, and MDM.

• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure, including tools like Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and ADLS.

• Demonstrated success in team management and leadership, with experience managing the People, Process, and Architecture dimensions of governance and MDM.

• Overall 10+ years of professional experience, with a focus on data governance, master data management, compliance, and analytics.

Key Skills

• Strong knowledge of Data Governance and Master Data Management Architecture and frameworks.

• Expertise in Access Management, Data Quality, Data Classification policies, and MDM strategies.

• Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, Azure, Databricks, and MDM tools.
