Responsibilities:
Database installs, upgrades, patching, security, troubleshooting and issue resolution, backup procedures, and performance tuning
Advise on scaling our Core Database
Implement backup and recovery processes
Optimize query performance
Perform database health checks
Plan and perform the database upgrades
Perform maintenance
Work closely with the application team to understand the changes planned, perform an impact analysis, and provide feedback
Automate deployment
Due to the 24×7 operations of the business you must be able to work a flexible work schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, emergency escalations, etc.
Contribute to our roadmap in the design of new architectures and services
Install, configure, and maintain ClickHouse and ScyllaDB clusters for high-performance analytical and transactional workloads
Monitor and tune performance of ClickHouse and ScyllaDB, including indexing, storage formats, and compaction strategies
Develop and implement backup, retention, and high availability strategies for ClickHouse and ScyllaDB environments
Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to design efficient data models and pipelines for ClickHouse and ScyllaDB use cases
Participate in capacity planning, scaling, and operational automation of ClickHouse and ScyllaDB infrastructure
Requirements:
2 years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases
In-depth understanding of SQL and query performance
Experience with PostgreSQL replication topologies, physical and logical replication
Experience writing and optimizing stored procedures in PL/pgSQL
Knowledge of PostgreSQL backup strategies and tools such as barman, pgbackrest, wal-e/wal-g
Good understanding of PostgreSQL performance on bare-metal and virtual machines running Linux
General knowledge of Linux systems, volume management, filesystems, proficiency with Bash
