    Position Overview

Our client is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect natural species and the environments essential to their survival through scientific research, habitat restoration, public advocacy, and nationwide community engagement initiatives.

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our newly formed dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance, scalable API-driven backend services.

The primary focus will be on designing and implementing server-side logic, building robust RESTful APIs, ensuring optimal performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

    Resoponsibilities

    • Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI
    • Implement clean, reliable, and scalable server-side logic and application architecture
    • Integrate with PostgreSQL and other data stores using SQLAlchemy; write efficient SQL queries
    • Create and maintain database schemas, migrations, and performance-optimized queries
    • Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and AWS services (Fargate/ECS, EC2, Lambda)
    • Utilize AWS services such as ELB/ALB, CloudFront, CloudWatch, S3, and Aurora PostgreSQL for scalable and resilient backend infrastructure
    • Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices (JWT/OAuth2, secrets management)
    • Monitor and optimize application performance, perform troubleshooting and debugging
    • Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to define API requirements and deliver new features

    Requirements

    • Proven experience as a Python Developer focused on backend/API development
    • Strong proficiency with FastAPI, REST API architecture, and asynchronous programming patterns
    • Experience working with PostgreSQL, strong SQL skills, and ORM frameworks (SQLAlchemy)
    • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and deploying production applications
    • Hands-on experience with AWS services, preferably including Fargate/ECS, EC2, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, and Aurora PostgreSQL
    • Familiarity with database migrations (Alembic or Liquibase)
    • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), logging, and monitoring practices
    • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code principles (CloudFormation is a plus, but not required)
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
    • Good spoken English
    • Experience in leading teams would be considered a plus
