What you’ll be working on?

At Camplight, we partner with organizations to build and operate modern, cloud-native platforms across diverse industries and stages — from early product development to long-running, mission-critical systems. As Cloud Engineering Lead, you’ll oversee the architecture, build, and operation of core cloud platforms that support multiple products and teams. These platforms must scale reliably, integrate cleanly, and remain cost-effective over time.

Your work will include:

• Designing and evolving cloud platform architectures
• Establishing patterns and standards for platform integrations
• Ensuring high availability, performance, and operational excellence
• Supporting teams in building on top of shared cloud foundations

Your Role:

• Lead the architecture, implementation, and operation of core cloud platforms
• Define standards, best practices, and reusable patterns for cloud and platform engineering
• Ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across environments
• Guide teams through architectural decisions and trade-offs
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform-level issues
• Act as a technical authority and mentor for cloud and platform engineers
• You’ll combine hands-on technical depth with strategic leadership, ensuring platforms are built for long-term success.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in cloud, platform, or infrastructure engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
• Experience designing and operating scalable, highly available cloud platforms
• Deep understanding of infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation)
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong knowledge of networking, observability, and reliability engineering
• Experience establishing platform standards and integration patterns
• Experience with multi-tenant or multi-account cloud architectures
• Background in SRE or DevOps practices
• Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance at scale
• Experience supporting multiple teams or products on shared platforms

What does the interview process look like?

Initial Interview: A friendly 45-minute cultural and technical interview with two Camplight team members to discuss your experience, platform leadership, and approach to cloud engineering.

You can choose between two Technical Deep Dive options:

Homework Assignment: A short, senior-level assignment (~2 hours), followed by a 1-hour technical discussion and deep dive.

Pair Programming / Architecture Session: A 2-hour session focused on real-world cloud architecture and platform challenges.
