    Tech Stack / Requirements

    Deadline for submission: 30 June 2025

    GATE is a joint initiative between Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and Chalmers Industriteknik, Sweden. The Swedish institutions are leading organizations in strategic initiatives such as AI Sweden, AI Research Centre, AI Innovation of Sweden and the Digital Twin Cities Centre.

    GATE develops research capacity and potential in the fields of digitisation, big data and artificial intelligence, cultivating the next generation of leading scientists by expanding the existing research network and establishing long-term agreements with leading global organizations. The Institute builds sustainable stakeholder relationships, focusing on technological collaboration between government, industry, academia and non-governmental organizations towards artificial intelligence and smart decision-making models.

    As the logical next step towards achieving its ambitious goals, GATE opened its new “Digital Twin Laboratory”, which is dedicated to the creation and advancement of complete digital twins and their components. The digital twin is much more that a numerical model or a three-dimensional geometry – it is a reliable, virtual replica of a physical asset or a system, a focal point for physics-based models, heterogeneous data streams, statistical emulation, and uncertainty quantification. Digital twins allow the effect of design changes, maintenance and repair operations, what-if scenarios and rare events to be investigated in-silico, without considerable financial investments and time expenditure.

    To support the development of the Laboratory we are looking for a: PostDoc/Junior Researcher Multiphysics modelling

    Your responsibilities

    • Conducting applied research in the fields of reliable computational fluid dynamics and computational solid mechanics modelling and usage.
    • Supporting the research and development of physics-based machine learning methods for digital twin creation;
    • Development and testing of multiphysics coupling interfaces and reduced-order models for digital twin creation;
    • Setting up, governing and testing open-source multiphysics modelling environments in support of expanding the capabilities of the Digital Twin Laboratory;
    • Creating research-grade software implementations of the developed methodologies;
    • Supporting programmers and developers during knowledge transfer campaigns between the Digital Twin Laboratory and its industrial partners.
    • Participating in workshops and training courses relevant to the research filed to increase qualification.
