Team Lead, Games Development

With the expansion of our Bulgarian office, we are currently looking for a highly motivated person to join our team as a Team Lead, Games Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management:

• Lead and manage a team of frontend game developers, providing clear technical direction, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, one-on-ones, and define skill development programs to enhance the team’s capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with producers, backend developers, UX/UI designers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of frontend components across all projects.
• Technical & Architectural Oversight:
• Serve as the primary technical owner of the frontend game architecture, providing hands-on development and high-level system design direction.
• Define, enforce, and maintain coding standards (specifically for high-performance JavaScript/TypeScript), code review processes, and best practices to ensure code quality, optimal performance, and stability.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, architectural debt, and performance bottlenecks specific to web rendering (Canvas/WebGL) and complex client-side logic.

Strategy & Process:

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality games within established timelines and scope.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business goals.
• Drive a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the department, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Essential Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of frontend developers in a fast-paced game development environment (ideally casino, gambling, or complex interactive web applications).
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and object-oriented programming principles within a game development context.
• Extensive hands-on experience with a major web-based game framework/engine (e.g., Cocos Creator, Pixi.js, Unity, Vue.js or similar proprietary game engines).
• Strong understanding of game architecture patterns (e.g., Component-Entity Systems, State Management) and experience designing and implementing scalable, maintainable game client systems.
• Proven ability to optimize web applications for performance, especially concerning Canvas/WebGL rendering, asset loading, and memory management.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate team members.
• Strong command of software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum.

Desired Skills & Knowledge:

• Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues inherent in web game development.
• Familiarity with rendering pipelines, shaders, and complex asset management workflows.
• Experience with modern development tools, including version control systems (Git), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• A passion for gaming and experience working specifically on consumer-facing casino/gambling products.
