The Role

We are looking for a self-driven Data Engineer who is passionate about fields such as data platform architecture, data processing, software engineering, database management and big data concepts. As part of our data science team, you will be the driving force in setting up and implementing our data management processes, as well as participating in multiple client engagements from a data management perspective.

🎯 As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes using a variety of technologies
• Collaborate with data with both internal and external teams to identify and collect data sources and be technical interface between team and client
• Implement data quality checks and ensure the integrity of data pipelines
• Optimize data processing, persistence, indexing and infrastructure to meet performance and scalability requirements
• Document data architecture and processes clearly
• Mentor and train junior data engineers
• Participate in pre-sales activities

🔍 What we are looking for:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Ability and drive to learn and implement new technologies quickly
• Experience with data warehousing and data lake technologies, such as Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake, Amazon RedShift, Azure blob storage, etc.
• Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.
• Experience with data orchestration and management platforms, such as Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, etc.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices
• Experience with writing efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, user defined functions and tuning query performance
• Experience with programming languages, such as Python, Java, Scala, etc.
• Experience with Linux operating systems

Additional technical skills (any of them is a plus):

• Experience with DevOps practices
• Experience with Hadoop ecosystem
• Familiarity with Docker
• Experience with indexing and optimizing data tables for better performance

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Proficient English verbal and written communication skills are a must
• Technical mindset with high attention to detail
• Customer-oriented mindset
• Mentorship experience is a plus

Interview Process:

• 30 minutes introductory interview with the hiring manager
• 90 minutes technical interview with members of the data engineering team
• 30-60 minutes final interview with a member(s) of the leadership team

The Role is located in Sofia, Bulgaria and will be reporting to Director of Data Science at Amplify Analytix.
