UX Researcher

Mission / Value of Role:

To create user-centered products and services by uncovering actionable insights into user behaviour, motivations, and pain points. This role will inform design and product decisions, reduce development risks, accelerate delivery, and ensure solutions are grounded in real-world needs.

As the first dedicated UX Researcher within the Amdaris Design Studio, this person will also contribute to the development of research capability across the team and help shape a new area of specialism within the studio.

Key Responsibilities:

• User Research: Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative research methods such as interviews, surveys, contextual inquiries, field studies, and diary studies.
• Usability Testing: Run moderated and unmoderated usability tests using appropriate tools (e.g. Usertesting.com, Maze, Lookback). Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations.
• Persona and Journey Development: Create personas, customer journey maps, and empathy maps to support design and strategic thinking.
• Competitive & Comparative Analysis: Research competitors’ user experience practices, design conventions, and product strategies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with designers, product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure research insights are considered throughout the product lifecycle.
• Insight Communication: Translate findings into compelling narratives via workshops, visual reports, and presentations tailored to different audiences.
• Practice Development: Support the growth of research capability within the Amdaris design team by mentoring others, leading knowledge-sharing sessions, and contributing to internal frameworks and playbooks.
• Advocacy: Promote user-centered design and influence decision-making with data and empathy.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to embed research operations and improve how insight is captured, stored, and reused across teams.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Experience designing and conducting end-to-end user research across multiple project phases (discovery to validation)
• Strong ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings clearly
• Knowledge of UX research tools and methods (remote and in-person)
• Familiarity with agile environments and working in cross-functional teams
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusion in research
• Comfortable presenting to non-research audiences and senior stakeholders
• (Bonus) Experience in consultancy, outsourcing, or agency settings

Our Ways of Working:

• Embedded within cross-functional client-facing teams as part of an Amdaris design and delivery engagement
• Expected to collaborate actively with other disciplines (product, design, development) within Amdaris and client environments
• Supported by the Amdaris Design Studio community for tooling, frameworks, critique, and ongoing professional development
• Contributing to the formation of a UX Research specialism within the wider design team
• Alignment with Amdaris values: quality, transparency, agility, and people-first delivery
