The Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB project) connects the Greek gas transmission network near Komotini with the Bulgarian one near Stara Zagora. The total length is 182 km and the technical capacity – 3 billion m3 per year. The project is changing the Bulgarian energy market by increasing competition and reducing prices for consumers, ensuring diversification of natural gas supplies.

Additional Information:
The IGB (Interconnector Gas Greece-Bulgaria) project is being implemented by the joint venture company IGB AD, registered in Bulgaria in 2011, with shareholders BEH EAD (50%) and IGI Poseidon (50%).
The co-shareholder IGI Poseidon is registered in Greece, with shareholders DEPA International Projects S.A. (50%) and Edison SpA (50%).
In accordance with its Articles of Association, IGB S.A. is the owner of the IGB pipeline, financing its implementation, allocating its transmission capacity and receiving revenues from the transmission of natural gas.
IGB was placed into service on October 1, 2022.
