The company has a solid history dating back more than 180 years. The company was founded by B. Brown was Julius Brown, who in 1839 bought a small pharmacy in the town. He bought a pharmacy in Melsungen, Germany, in 1890. There, he began to manufacture and supply products based entirely on herbs. Bernhard Braun, the eldest son of Julius Wilhelm Braun, took over the pharmacy in 1864 and started with the manual production of pharmaceutical products. In 1867 he registered this business in the trade register. In 1908, he started the production of sterile ketgut, which is an absorbable suture. This product marked the beginning of the company's rapid expansion.
