What is the role?

As a Senior Software Developer with a strong background in Java, you will play a crucial part in the design, development, and maintenance of our end-to-end satellite image processing platform. This platform covers the complete lifecycle—from ingesting raw satellite imagery and executing radiometric calibration and geometric quality assurance, to delivering fully processed and validated products for critical applications like maritime surveillance, emergency management, and infrastructure monitoring.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Java and Spring with components written in Python for specialized image processing tasks.
• Creating scalable, cloud-based solutions using AWS to manage data ingestion, storage, and processing pipelines for large volumes of satellite imagery.
• Integrating geospatial libraries and data standards (GeoTIFF, HDF, STAC) to support multi‑format image ingestion, calibration, and product generation.
• Implementing cross‑functional modules for:
• Data Ingestion & Archive Management: Reliable capture of raw image data and metadata.
• Radiometric Calibration: Ensuring quality and normalization across the image products.
• Geometric Quality Assurance: Automating geolocation checks and band co‑registration validations.
• Automated Mask Generation: Providing default and manually adjustable masks (cloud, snow, water, etc.).
• Collaborating with image processing engineers, QA, to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Writing clean, scalable, well-documented code and participating throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through coding, testing, and deployment.
• Researching and adopting emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve system performance and reliability.

What do we look for?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience as a Software Developer focusing on back‑end development, with deep proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with Python for scientific or image processing work.
• Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS Knowledge in database management
• Background in geospatial or remote sensing data processing, calibration, or quality assurance is highly desirable.

How to Stand Out:

• Demonstrated experience with processing large volumes of remote sensing imagery.
• Knowledge of standardized metadata formats (STAC) and geospatial service protocols (WMTS/WMS).
• A proactive mindset with the ability to learn quickly, take informed risks, and deliver reliable end‑to‑end solutions.
