Data Engineer with PHP & MySQL – Mid to Senior level

How would a typical week look for you:

In this role we аre looking for a hands-on data technologist who is also keen to understand the business domain and client use-cases, covering the existing and future client needs with pragmatic data solutions. Hence, the role is a mix of Data Analyst and Data Engineer.

On a regular basis you will:

• Help improve the product and data quality, focusing on specific client use-cases

• Expand our modelling and coverage of real world events which affect company entities

• Maintain and support our production PHP data processing pipelines

• Participate in new product development and proof-of-concepts

• Expand product coverage in breadth by integrating additional data sources

• Cooperate with stakeholders from other internal teams which consume our data

• Improve and optimize repeating processes, contribute to the continuous improvement of our data quality procedures

This means that you need to be able to:

• Given a large, poorly understood problem, explore the solution space (possibly with numerous POCs) to determine the correct course of action

• Apply a foundational understanding of statistical concepts to identify data trends and deviations, execute aggregate data analysis (EDA) using suitable tools (including raw SQL)

• Delve deeper and manually analyze specific cases and root causes, extract random samples, etc.

• Cooperate with domain and product experts, as well as research analysts (including delegating and consuming the results of bigger manual reviews)

• Gauge trade-offs, prioritize for client impact, timebox, work iteratively

• Communicate and document summarized findings in a clear way, propose resolution strategies

• Understand and write PHP+Laravel code for automating the ingestion and processing of data (backend code)

• On rare occasions, respond to production incidents during daytime Mon-Fri

On top of at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, it would be considered an advantage if you have experience with:

• Advanced statistics

• Processing large volumes of data

• Non-relational databases

• Data processing architectures, handling of long-running tasks, message/task queues

• Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Information Retrieval (IR)

• Similar business domains as ours
