Junior Data Engineer

About the role

We are expanding our data team and are looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer who wants to grow fast in a real production environment. You will work side-by-side with experienced data engineers  on one of the most interesting social-data platforms in the world. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has solid programming foundations and wants to build a career in modern data engineering.

What you’ll be doing

• Help design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingesting and processing large volumes of social media and unstructured data
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes using modern tools
• Assist in managing data storage solutions (data lakes, warehouses) and ensure data is clean, secure, and accessible
• Work closely with data scientists on preparing datasets for NLP and machine learning experiments
• Implement basic data quality checks, monitoring alerts, and validation routines
• Participate in the migration and improvement of existing pipelines
• Continuously learn new tools and best practices

What we’ll expect from you

• 1–2 years of professional experience in software/development engineering or any data-related role
• Strong programming skills in Python (or Java with willingness to focus on Python)
• First experience with SQL and relational databases
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) – even from personal projects or courses
• Genuine interest in data engineering, big data, and/or NLP
• Good communication skills and fluency in English

Nice to have (not required – we will teach you)

• Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, or any data lake technology
• First experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster) or transformation tools (dbt)
• Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, or any big data technology
• Any projects involving APIs, web scraping, or social media data
• Basic knowledge of NLP concepts or large language models
