*This position is fully remote only for employment in Bulgaria. However, people can also work in one of our offices in Sofia or Varna if they prefer to.

Position Overview

Our client is the world leader in online gaming services. Their business is developing in several directions, most prominent ones being a betting exchange and online games. The betting center and the bookmaker run on their own software. The company’s web services have mobile versions and native applications for iOS and Android, and are used by more than two million players from 50 countries.

The Senior Platform Engineer will play a key role in maintaining, optimising, and evolving the organisation’s technology infrastructure within the Project and Platform team. This role focuses on designing and developing platform solutions, supporting operational excellence, ensuring system reliability, and driving automation and continuous improvement.

The team operates as a 24/7 support function with on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain platform infrastructure, including both new solutions and enhancements to existing systems
• Monitor and optimise system performance, ensuring stability, scalability, and efficiency
• Drive improvements by identifying enhancement opportunities, adopting new technologies, and contributing to cloud cost management initiatives
• Lead and implement automation solutions to reduce manual processes and promote self-service
• Take ownership of squad deliverables, incidents, and documentation, demonstrating accountability and leadership
• Mentor and support other squad members by sharing expertise and guiding skills development
• Serve as a behavioural and technical role model for Associate and Graduate Engineers
• Deliver consistently high-quality results and maintain strong operational performance
• Engage effectively with non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment
• Collaborate closely with development, operations, and other teams, providing constructive feedback and fostering a positive working environment

Requirements

• Experience working with Splunk, Vault, and Sensu
• Proficiency in Python, Terraform, and Golang
• Strong understanding of Platform Engineering principles
• Hands-on experience with CDK
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Solid knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
• Experience working with AWS in a production environment
• Proficiency with Git and CI tools such as Jenkins (or similar)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible)
• Strong Linux administration skills
• Experience with infrastructure technologies, including virtualisation, storage systems, and hardware appliances
