    Company overview

At Vaerolabs, we build digital products for all the many divisions of Lufthansa Technik (LHT). We create the link that connects airlines with critical aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification services. We help Lufthansa Technik digitalise its processes, keeping it the premium provider of services in the aviation space.

We’re a savvy, Agile company and our software keeps the world flying.

    The Job:

We are looking for a talented and driven Technical Lead to join our fast-growing team in Sofia. As the Technical Lead, you will be actively involved throughout the entire product lifecycle—from early analysis and concept creation to refining architecture and guiding teams toward solutions that are robust, scalable, and aligned with user needs.

This is a strategic role that requires both deep technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to ensure product delivery aligns with LHT’s standards, practices, and long-term vision. It involves regular travel to Germany (4–8 times per year) to collaborate directly with LHT stakeholders and strengthen partnerships.

    Some of your key responsibilities:

    • Act as the primary technical interface between the product team and the LHT technology ecosystem, guiding team members on the standard technology stack, tooling, best practices, and infrastructure.

    • Participate in the earliest phases of product initiation – from analysis and concept creation to architectural drafting and the launch of development.

    • Oversee the technical aspects of project delivery, ensuring that development work aligns with architectural and quality standards and business requirements.

    • Work closely with LHT Architects and peer Tech Leads to ensure alignment, foster trust, brainstorm and validate technical options.

    • Champion continuous improvement in technical processes, coding practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

    • Liaise with LHT IT administration teams to manage accounts, access, licenses, and system integrations.

    • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We’re looking for a person with:

    • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in a customer-facing capacity.

    • Strong understanding of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

    • In-depth knowledge of software architecture principles and design patterns.

    • Solid experience in database design, optimization, and management (both relational and non-relational).

    • Familiarity with modern deployment practices (e.g., blue-green deployments, canary releases, rolling updates).

    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

    • Willingness and ability to travel to Germany 4–8 times per year.

    Can Be an Advantage:

    • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments with distributed teams.

    • Knowledge of secure coding practices and performance optimization techniques.

    • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices in cross-functional product teams.

    Our Technologies:

    • Languages: Java 17+, JavaScript, TypeScript

    • Frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, Angular 15+

    • Databases: Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB

    • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure

    • CI/CD and Automation: GitHub, Helm, Ansible & AWX, ArgoCD

    • Containerization and orchestration: Docker, OpenShift
