    Call for recruitment of Junior Researcher (Level 1)(R1) at GATE Institute for Big Data for a Smart Society

    Data spaces are a highly innovative area that is gaining increasing popularity at both the European and regional levels as a key element of the future data-driven economy. Data spaces provide an environment that facilitates secure and trusted data exchange between participants and offer a comprehensive framework encompassing the technological, business, and organizational aspects of this exchange. The researchers will be involved in an international project in collaboration with two of the most prestigious research institutes in Europe: Norway’s SINTEF Institute and Ireland’s INSIGHT Institute. The project’s aim is to build a knowledge transfer framework between the partners and develop a visionary scientific strategy to enhance research capacity in the field of data space interoperability. The project’s outcomes will be applied to drive innovations in areas of significant social and economic importance.

    Applicants for this position should have experience in the field of information technology and an interest in developing expertise in semantic interoperability for data spaces. Knowledge and skills in semantic technologies and data sharing are an advantage.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conducts applied research in the field of semantic interoperability for data spaces;
    • Utilizes technologies and tools for knowledge representation and management in various application areas;
    • Participates in applying research results to innovative solutions;
    • Engages in continuous professional development and participates in training events and knowledge exchange;
    • Prepares presentations to promote research outcomes at national and international levels;
    • Contributes to the preparation of high-impact scientific publications.

    Skills, Experience and Qualifications

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, software engineering, or a related technical field;
    • Experience in the field of semantic technologies is an advantage;
    • Ability to collaborate and work in teams with international partners;
    • Motivation for professional development and enthusiasm for research work;
    • Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to present research results (and their value);
    • Fluency in English.

    Stages of the contest:

    1. The Selection Committee reviews the documents, submitted by the candidates and selects those meeting the requirements of the job, as described in the job profile. The selected candidates will be informed by 31 August 2025.
    2. Interviews will be held with the selected applicants until 11 September 2025.
    3. All interviewed candidates will be notified in writing.
    4. The successful candidate will be offered a labor contract.
