Data Science – Technical Lead

Our client offers AI-powered SaaS solutions to optimize electricity sales and efficiently manage renewable portfolios. Their innovative software empowers green energy players to automate power trading decisions, enabling them to become active market participants and maximize returns while managing risk efficiently.

The company has been founded on the belief that a green energy economy can be both sustainable and competitive and they are driven to make a change in the sector by accelerating technology.

They are active across Europe and is partnering with Europe’s leading energy service companies, independent renewable energy producers and large industries, among others.

End of last year they closed their latest investment round with Encavis AG, one of the leading independent power producers (IPP), listed on the MDAX of Deutsche Börse AG. That strategic investment opened new opportunities for them by giving them an exposure to pan-European platforms, industry expertise and access to new markets.

As they scale, they’re looking for a Data Science Technical Lead to lead and grow our data science team, delivering impactful solutions to complex problems.

Role summary:

As a Data Science Technical Lead, you’ll be the go-to expert, you will drive the design, implementation, and timely delivery of AI/ML solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure building scalable and robust AI/ML solutions that deliver real value.

Essential responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing data science team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Design, architect and deliver data science solutions, from experimentation to production-ready systems
• Guide model development, deployment, and monitoring best practices, ensuring reliability and scalability
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities where data science can make the most impact
• Ensure adherence to data privacy, ethics, and responsible AI principles
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in AI/ML and bring cutting-edge techniques into practice
• Contribute hands-on to critical projects as a technical expert

​​How would you hit the ground running in this role?

• Proven experience (5+ years) in data science, with a strong focus on machine learning and statistical modeling
• 2+ years leading or mentoring data science teams
• Deep knowledge of Python, machine learning frameworks and cloud platforms (AWS)
• Strong understanding of data engineering, MLOps, and production deployment of ML models
• Excellent communication skills – able to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
• Passion for solving real-world problems with AI/ML
