Junior JavaScript Engineer (React and Node.js)

The Role

You will join an extension team (The Sun) of our client – News UK.

What you’ll do:

• You will work in a team to deliver great software whilst learning and developing your own skills and knowledge
• You’ll work closely with other engineers and a Principal, who will all be there to help, support and grow you
• You’ll interact, communicate and collaborate with the engineers based in London and Sofia
• Develop, maintain, and improve code that powers The Sun’s digital experience
• Take part in code reviews, testing, and debugging of production systems
• Learn best practices from senior engineers and participate in continuous feedback loops
• Contribute to team discussions and agile ceremonies

What we’re looking for:

• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, especially using React and Redux
• Understanding of Node.js and Express for building backend services
• Familiarity with TDD and testing tools such as Jest, Mocha, or Cypress
• A passion for clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• A collaborative mindset and a willingness to seek feedback and support
• A basic understanding of agile methodologies and version control systems
• A growth mindset and an eagerness to learn and improve continuously
