The Role

As an Engineering Manager, your role will be pivotal in driving our team’s vision of creating an event-based distributed service-oriented software environment. This revolutionary infrastructure is set to impact millions of clients across multiple European markets, reshaping their digital experiences. In this hands-on leadership role, your technical expertise and ability to drive planning, development, and cross-functional collaboration will be key to shaping the future of our clients’ digital experiences and reinforcing our position as industry innovators.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and others in developing and executing the team’s roadmap.
• Participate in planning, designing, and development phases of event-based distributed micro-service-oriented software products.
• Seek opportunities to improve how the team works (within the team and with others) to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Uphold a high technical bar while making pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Drive execution by organizing teamwork, setting goals, and holding the team accountable.
• Work with their team and adjacent teams to solve problems. Escalate problems that have a broader scope.

What You’ll Need

• Demonstrated ability to lead people, teams, or projects multiple times in different contexts
• 7+ years of experience with PHP
• 1-2 years of people management experience
• Solid experience with Yii2/Laravel/Symfony
• Expertise with MySQL
• Expertise with RabbitMQ /Kafka/Redis
• A clear understanding of architectural patterns and best coding practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Excellent communication skills in both Bulgarian and English.

Nice to have

• Concurrency and distributed systems.
• Experience with high-traffic web applications.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with Node.js.
• Understanding of Ci/CD principles.
