Senior Java Back End Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Java Back End Engineer to join our team full-time in Bulgaria.

About the role:

As a Senior Java Back End Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

In this role, you will work as part of a highly collaborative team, designing and developing robust backend systems that support our products. You will work closely with the group manager, product managers, and tech lead to achieve business goals, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality software.

The client is particularly known for: enabling enterprises to maintain data sovereignty by allowing full control over where data resides; offering a solution that is highly customizable for hybrid and multicloud environments; providing tools for secure and efficient edge storage that integrates seamlessly with cloud infrastructure etc.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
• Collaborate with the team to plan and deliver new features, ensuring high standards of code quality
• Work with product managers to prioritize tasks, manage feature development, and contribute to product releases
• Contribute to architectural discussions and encourage the team to innovate with cutting-edge technologies
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems for scalability and performance
• Continuously improve the codebase by participating in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions

Requirements:

• BSc in Computer Science or related field, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming
• Minimum 5 years of experience in backend development for complex systems
• Proficient in Java, with a solid understanding of frameworks such as Spring and experience in building scalable and maintainable applications
• Experience with Microservices – a must
• Experience with Kafka and Docker – a must
• Experience with SQL – a must
• Experience with databases such as Postgres, MongoDB, or Cassandra
• Familiarity with Nomad and Consul – an advantage
• Knowledge of networking and security principles – an advantage
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS) – an advantage
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team setting
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
