ABOUT THE PROJECT:

We are building a platform designed to integrate digital assets, tokenized securities, and cryptocurrency for the U.S. financial markets. This platform aims to operate as a fully integrated firm, providing an alternative trading system and digital asset clearing agency.

This hybrid role is critical to navigating the complexities of launching a cutting-edge, regulated cryptocurrency exchange. The ideal candidate thrives in balancing strategic product vision with rigorous project execution within a demanding financial regulatory landscape, bridging the gap between traditional finance and digital assets.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Defining and managing product requirements specifically for regulated financial products, including spot, futures, and options on crypto assets, ensuring features meet both user needs and stringent compliance obligations.
• Managing project execution specifically for complex financial technology platforms operating under stringent regulatory oversight.
• Managing coordination and dependencies across internal teams, backend exchange partners, KYC/AML vendors, security auditors (e.g., for SOC 2), and regulatory bodies.
• Implementing and managing rigorous change control processes suitable for a regulated financial environment, including contingency planning for regulatory feedback, integration challenges, and market volatility impacts.
• Ensuring product features comply with relevant SEC, FINRA, and potentially CFTC regulations from conception through launch and post-launch iterations, considering regulatory timelines, compliance milestones, and the specific needs of both retail and institutional client segments.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Project management:

• Effectively communicate complex ideas and adapt messaging to various channels and audiences.
• Collaborate well, accounting for time zones, cultural considerations, and personal habits.
• Prepare project plans and adapt to unforeseen impediments.
• Analyze discussions to extract key topics and prioritize tasks based on impact and importance.
• Lead task distribution by evaluating team strengths and weaknesses for optimal results.
• Demonstrate proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and Gantt charts.
• Understand, coordinate, and facilitate aspects of CI/CD principles, GIT, and system testing to ensure quality and continuous improvement.
• Conduct market analysis, design user experiences, and align technology with business needs.
• Communicate and collaborate fluently in English

Software design

• Strong understanding of modern software architecture principles applicable to building scalable, secure, and resilient web and mobile financial trading platforms, including API design, cloud infrastructure, database technologies, and security best practices.
• Proven ability to define and oversee comprehensive QA strategies for mission-critical financial trading systems, encompassing functional, performance, security, resilience, and regulatory compliance testing.
• Advanced understanding and practical application of risk management methodologies specifically tailored to financial technology projects, including identifying and mitigating regulatory, compliance, cybersecurity, counterparty, and market risks.
• Expertise in eliciting, validating, and managing requirements for complex, high-availability, regulated financial systems, ensuring clarity, testability, and traceability for regulatory audit purposes.
• Experience with SDLCs adapted for regulated environments, incorporating rigorous testing (including security and performance), validation, documentation, and deployment controls.

Cryptocurrency & Blockchain Domain

• Solid understanding of cryptocurrency market structures, including spot, futures, and options trading mechanics specific to digital assets.
• Knowledge of blockchain fundamentals, different consensus mechanisms, and their implications for trading and settlement.
• Familiarity with concepts of digital asset custody, security best practices (hot/cold storage, multi-sig), and related risks.
• Awareness of the competitive landscape in the crypto exchange industry.

Financial Markets & Trading Systems

• Experience with the architecture and operation of electronic trading systems, matching engines, and order management systems (OMS).
• Understanding of market data feeds, order routing strategies (including NBBO concepts), liquidity aggregation, and smart order routing (SOR).
• Familiarity with low-latency trading concepts and performance considerations.
• Knowledge of FIX protocol and other financial messaging standards is a plus.
• Experience with derivatives trading lifecycle and risk management principles.

NICE TO HAVE:

Financial Regulatory Environment

• Demonstrable experience working within SEC and FINRA-regulated environments. Familiarity with broker-dealer operations, ATS regulations (Reg ATS), Books and Records requirements (SEC Rules 17a-3/17a-4), Margin Rules (Reg T, FINRA Rule 4210), and reporting obligations (OATS/CAT).
• [Nice to have] Understanding of the CFTC regulatory framework for derivatives (futures, options on futures), including registration requirements, customer protection rules, and reporting, is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in translating regulatory requirements into technical and functional specifications for development teams.
• Experience managing projects involving regulatory filings, audits, or examinations.
